Comparing Money

Comparing money is always between two amounts.
When comparing two amounts of money, first identify the higher amount or the lower amount.
Generally, ‘less than’ or ‘more than’ is used to compare two amounts.

Let us explain it with an example.

Example :

Look at the below pictures and compare the prices of the fruits given below. Find which one is higher in price and how more it is than the other one. Also, find which one is lower in price and how less it is than the other one.

Answer:

The price of the watermelon is Rs 60 and the price of the pineapple is Rs 78.

So, 78 > 60

The pineapple is higher in price than the watermelon.

Now, Rs 78 – Rs 60 = Rs 18.

So, the price of pineapple is Rs 18 more than the price of the watermelon.

Hence, the price of the pineapple is higher than the price of the watermelon and it is Rs 18 higher than the price of the watermelon.

Similarly, the watermelon is lower in price than the pineapple.

Rs 78 – Rs 60 = Rs 18.

So, the price of watermelon is Rs 18 less than the price of pineapple.

Hence, the watermelon is lower in price and it is Rs 18 lower by the price of the pineapple.
