The ways by which we travel and transport our things from one place to another are called modes of transport.

Modes of Transport for Kids :

There are three main modes of transport that we use in daily life.

      1. What is Land Transport:

The vehicles that run on land are included in the land transport. The vehicles that require roads to travel are called land vehicles.

Other modes of land transport are motorbikes, scooters, autorickshaws, trams, etc.

     2. Air transport:

  • The modes of transportation that move through the air are included in air transport.
  • These vehicles are constructed in a way that they can glide in the air.
  • These are the fastest and most expensive means of transport.

     3. What Is Water Transport?

  • Water transport involves the modes of transport that run on or inside water.
  • It is the oldest means of transport. People in the early days used water transport to travel to different countries. Their journey lasted for months.

Who drives different modes of transport?

What drives the vehicles?

  • The vehicles require energy to run. This energy demand can be fulfilled by burning fuels or using an animal.
  • Animals such as horses, camels, and bullocks are used to run animal carts.
  • Some common fuels used to run the mechanised vehicles are kerosene, petrol, and CNG.
  • Electricity is also used as a fuel to run vehicles like electric buses, electric cars, and metro trains.

New Words:

Mechanised: Something which is made by assembling complex machines.

Expensive: Something which costs a lot of money.
