Examples :

  1. Hari is my neighbour. He also works in my office. The pronoun “he” is used in place of the noun “Hari”. Since Hari is masculine gender and a single person, he is used. Now, Hari is my neighbour. She also works in my office.
  2. Neha is a good girl. She is my best friend. (Pronoun “she” is used in place of Neha who is a single person and female).

Now, Neha is a good girl. They is my best friend.
