What are the qualities of curiosity in kids? As kids, interest is one of the many drives that keep us learning and growing. It helps to shape our decisions as well.

Also referred to as Inquisitive Minds, the inquiring mind can be seen through their inquisitive nature towards their surroundings. When they see something new, there’s a strong tendency to ask questions about it or seek guidance on using it.

Children may also show curiosity through observation. They take time before engaging an object or phenomenon by just watching it closely without yet touching or interacting with it. Once they’re satisfied observing the thing for some time, curiosity takes over and urges them to interact with it more thoroughly.

 

Curious children will always observe until they are more convinced to touch. Curiosity leads children to an active involvement with their surroundings which eventually leads to curiosity in kids.

10 activities to raise curiosity in kids 

Here are 10 curiosity-sparking activities you can encourage curiosity in kids to do:

1. Read stories to them

Take time reading stories about real people who did amazing things. You may also find videos of these real people doing their thing around the internet. One example is Marie Curie’s curiosity in kids. Because most early childhood inquiring mind books only contain fictional characters, it’s good for your child’s curiosity in kids to read true inspiring stories of greatness that occurred throughout history. They will surely inspire your child’s curiosity in kids! Share what you learn with your children’s inquiring minds.

2. Give them a curiosity kit

It is a box containing materials related to a specific topic of inquiring mind, such as plants, rocks, or insects. You can narrow down the interest of your child’s inquiring minds from those topics and make it easier for you to choose which items go into the curiosity box. Start by asking your child what their interests are – maybe they have an animal that they love – then think about other things that might also give you clues about what kind of things might pique their interest, such as colors, shapes, and textures.

 

3. Encourage them to ask questions

A natural curiosity would ignite the inquiring mind. When you see them asking questions, try to discuss with them – don’t just ignore their questions. Encourage your child to ask questions about anything they are interested in. Learning comes from questioning and then experimenting, testing out their theories. The more that children do this, the more likely it is that they will grow up as life-long learners who enjoy the process of learning.

5. Help them categorize

An early lesson can be how to group similar objects’ curiosity in kids. One way is by shape – perhaps having a box for circles and a different one for squares or triangles or another for stars and hearts of curiosity in kids. Then, help them learn how to group by size curiosity in kids – putting together all of the objects that are the same size inquiring minds – and another box for those objects of different sizes. 7. Encourage curiosity about nature

An inquiring mind is essential, but it can be fun too. This could cause children wonder what they can do to help their environment; helping them ignite inquiring mind.

 

8. Introduce kid-friendly science experiments

Some kid-friendly science activities include making an egg pass through a colander (to demonstrate density) and filling different sized jars curiosity in kids with water to make comparisons an inquiring mind.

9. Encourage curiosity about the world around them
