<p dir="ltr">The NDA is a tri-service academy of the Indian Armed Forces, in which, before pre-commission training in service academies of his choice, a cadet undergoes training in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Of course, all this is of such importance because the NDA literally is the world's first tri-service academy and reflects the joint operations in modern military strategy. Based in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra, it therefore follows that the NDA commissions some of the finest officers into the Indian armed forces.</p>
<h2 dir="ltr">What is &ldquo;NDA full form&rdquo;?</h2>
<p dir="ltr">NDA full form in <a href="https://www.orchidsinternationalschool.com/english-concepts">English </a>is the National Defence Academy. The realization to temporarily house the various arms of military service under on-job integrated training brought about the idea of establishing an NDA. The vision was projected to improve not only operational effectiveness but also inculcate amongst the future Chiefs of various arms and services a sense of brotherhood and mutual respect. Thus, NDA was born as a truly prime tri-service institution with the vision of creating the best homogeneous and effective military leadership cadre for India.</p>
<h2 dir="ltr">The History of NDA</h2>

<p dir="ltr">The National Defence Academy of India is one of the premier institutions in the entire globe for training military leaders, and it has a long, distinguished history. Established in the year 1954, the NDA had come up as a pressing need to unify the then existing fragmented process of training for the Indian Defense Services. Prior to the establishment of the NDA, the Indian Army, the Navy, and the Air Force used to train their cadets separately. This piecemeal system did not bring cohesion among the arms of the services. This exposure of the disorganization among the service arms would show each time they would get involved in joint operations. At times, cadets were not properly prepared for the teamwork required in integrated military operations.</p>
<h2 dir="ltr">The Eligibility criteria to Attend NDA Examination</h2>
<p dir="ltr">This private owned UPSC, which conducts an exam for NDA every year, has laid down a number of eligibility criteria by which the candidates have to abide by before they are supposed to sit for the test. There are two phases of the exam conducted every year. Clearly, what it means is that the training period for the NDA is so tough that only the physically and psychologically prepared could undergo it.&nbsp;</p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>Educational Qualification:</strong> Almost anybody gets admitted to the NDA. The first step to one's entry into the NDA comes only after one's schooling is finished. On account of eligibility an aspirant should have passed his 12th grade, or should be presently sitting in the final exams of the 12th grade. The subjects studied, however, are specific depending upon the branch under which they fall:</p>
<p dir="ltr">10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent appearing in the state Education Board or a University. For the Air Force and the Naval Wings of the NDA and for the 10 + 2 Cadet Entry Scheme of the Indian Naval Academy: 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics. Age Limit</p>
<p dir="ltr">This is because the NDA exam would have been eligible to find you between 16.5 and 19.5 years of age, that is to say your age should fall in this bracket when the course takes off and not when you are applying for it.</p>
<h2 dir="ltr">Primary Objectives of the NDA</h2>
<p dir="ltr">Some of the core objectives of the National Defence Academy find place in its training and educational programmes. The aim of this program is therefore to produce well-rounded officers, each of whom is capable and morally sound.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr">Integrated Training for All Services:</h3>
<p dir="ltr">Unique to the NDA is that it is the Infantry School, the Naval Academy, and the Air Force Academy, all under one roof, cross-training cadets of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. This would ensure that all future officers understand the roles, responsibilities, and operational challenges of each service. This creates a spirit of jointmanship, so much needed in modern warfare, where coordinated effort between services is required so often.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr">Character Building and Leadership Development:</h3>
<p dir="ltr">The NDA has one of the major aims of developing leadership qualities in the cadets. This three-year-long rigorous training course on character building, discipline, and ethics is a stepping stone for any military officer. Some of the guiding principles which get instilled in the cadets are leading by example, maintaining high standards of integrity, and being responsible for one's actions.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr">Physical and Mental Toughness:</h3>
<p dir="ltr">The training at NDA is oriented toward developing physical and mental toughness. Cadets undergo a rigorous regimen of physical exercise, long marches, obstacle course training, and participation in a variety of sports. These all keep a person physically fit but also help in developing resilience and acting under pressure.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr">Academic Excellence:</h3>
<p dir="ltr">The NDA has placed much emphasis on academic education; therefore, cadets would be undertaking a three-year degree course in Arts, Science, or Computer Science, affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The structure of the curriculum is designed to ensure that, besides physical and mental preparation for military life, the cadet is intellectually capable of dealing with complex challenges.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr">Promotion of National Integration:</h3>
<p dir="ltr">The NDA works to a great extent as an integrator of the country, as cadets hailed from different parts of the country, economies, and cultures. The shared experience of rigorous training and living together fosters a sense of unity and camaraderie, which goes a long way in cementing the cohesion of the Armed Forces.</p>
<h2 dir="ltr">Regional Offices of the NDA</h2>
<p dir="ltr">Although guided from the centralized NDA located at Khadakwasla, it does have a number of regional offices within the country. Such regional offices are very actively involved in organizing the selection process, conducting examinations, and making the required information and guidance available to the aspirants.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr">NDA Regional Office, New Delhi</h3>
<p dir="ltr">One such regional office is New Delhi, which does a good quantum of preliminary works pertaining to the selection of candidates. This office also holds the authority to conduct interviews together with the medical examination for candidates hailing from North India.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr">Mumbai NDA Regional Office</h3>
<p dir="ltr">The other important regional center is the Chennai office, which serves the silver candidates from the southern part of India. It undertakes preliminary testing and develops close relations with the different recruitment boards to ease the channels of communication between the candidates and the main NDA campus.</p>
